CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council announced funding for three sewer and three water system improvement projects at its meeting on Oct. 5. Details for each project are listed below.

The council approved a $394,000 grant to the Town of Belle in Kanawha County for improvements to its sewer system along West Reynolds Avenue. This grant, along with funds from the Clean Water State Revolving Loan Fund (CWSRF), the Town of Belle and the Belle Sanitary Board, provide $862,000 for the project.

The council approved a $500,000 grant and a $666,400 Loan (2% over 30 yrs) to the Town of Beverly in Randolph County for improvements to its sewer system. This funding and money from the U.S. Economic Development Authority (USEDA) provide $4.4 million for the project.

Lincoln County Public Service District

The council approved a $500,000 grant to the Lincoln County PSD to replace a water storage tank in Alum Creek. This grant, along with funds from the Drinking Water Treatment Revolving Fund (DWTRF) and the Lincoln County American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) will provide $1 million for the project.

Mason County Public Service District

The council approved a $500,000 grant to the Mason County PSD to improve its J2Y35 water system. This grant, along with funds from other funding programs, will allow the $2.8 million project to progress.

Pocahontas County Public Service District

The council approved a $1 million grant and a $942,640 Loan (1% over 40 years) to the Pocahontas County PSD for improvements to its wastewater treatment plant. This funding, along with money from other funding programs, will allow the $3.4 million project to progress.

The council approved a $1 million grant to the Town of Wardensville in Hardy County for improvements to its water treatment plant and its distribution system. This grant, along with money from other funding programs, will allow the $6.7 million project to progress.

The council also approved technical reviews and requests to pursue funding for an additional 18 sewer and water projects, which cities, municipalities and public service districts save taxpayer money and keep their water and sewer projects moving. The 18 projects found to be technically feasible and approved to pursue funding are listed below.

Berkeley Water PSD water treatment plant improvements estimated to cost $32 million.

Big Bend PSD wastewater treatment plant improvements estimated to cost $2.3 million.

Center PSD Rock View/Bearhole sewer extension to serve 166 customers estimated to cost $6 million.

Clay County PSD Big Otter water extension to serve 30 customers estimated to cost $5.7 million.

Town of Farmington water system improvements. The project is estimated to cost $3.3 million.

City of Kingwood sewer system improvements estimated to cost $6.7 million.

Lewis County Economic Development Authority Oil Creek water extension to serve 167 customers estimated to cost $9.9 million.

Town of Masontown wastewater treatment plant improvements estimated to cost $1.1 million.

Mercer County PSD McComas water system replacement estimated to cost $2.8 million.

City of Morgantown Chaplin Hill water system improvements estimated to cost $7.2 million.

Town of Pineville Brenton/Baileysville water system extension to serve 254 customers estimated to cost $9.5 million.

Pleasant Hill PSD Norman Ridge water extension to serve 62 customers estimated to cost $4.4 million.

City of Weirton water treatment plant improvements estimated to cost $33.6 million.

Hamlin PSD sewer system improvements estimated to cost $4.3 million.

Town of Matewan Red Jacket sewer system replacement estimated to cost $5.9 million.

Mineral Wells PSD Pond Creek water extension to serve 36 customers estimated to cost $3.2 million.

City of Morgantown Chaplin Hill sewer system improvements estimated to cost $6.8 million.

City of Weirton wastewater treatment plant Improvements estimated to cost $30 million.

About the West Virginia Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council

The WV IJDC was created by the WV Legislature in 1994 to serve as a funding clearinghouse for water and wastewater projects around the state. Gov. Jim Justice serves as council chairman, with Deputy Chief of Staff Ann Urling serving as his designee.
