Honda is recalling 112,060 Ridgeline vehicles sold in “snow-belt states” where roadway de-icing agents may cause corrosion that could lead to the fuel tank becoming damaged and leak.

If the corrosion is significant, Honda said it “may offer to repurchase the vehicle.”

Recalled are certain model year 2006 to 2014 Ridgelines that were sold or registered in Pennsylvania as well as Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington D.C., and Wisconsin, according to documents filed with the U.S. Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

“An accumulation of road salt may cause the frame mounting surface, where the fuel tank mounting bands are attached, to corrode and possibly detach the fuel tank, which can result in a fuel leak.” The fuel leak in turn could result in a fire.

Dealer will inspect and repair the rear frame, if necessary, free of charge.

“Depending on the extent of any corrosion damage, Honda may offer to repurchase the vehicle.”

Letters to owners are expected to be mailed on Aug. 1.

Honda said it has received complaints about rust and corrosion but none about a fuel leak.

More than 270,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees, Dodge Durangos recalled for rollaway issue.

Ford recalls almost 3 million vehicles because they may roll away even when in park.
